Because I have been given much...

First off, I want to say I'm so sorry I didn't have this posted yesterday. I sat down on Sunday to write my mommy moment, then couldn't think of what it was to save my life (and I had a good one too) BUT alas, I remembered this morning! Yay!!

So, last week, we bought some pizza from our favorite pizza joint. We picked it up and took it to the car. No biggie. Loo decided she wanted to play a guessing game. Guess which box has the ham and pineapple pizza. Ooo. The thrill! :) JK it was korky and fun. Anyway, Loo guessed right! (Yay Loo!) and for some reason she opened the other box to look at it. (I think we were very hungry.) When we looked in, we realized this was not the pizza we ordered. We had to turn around (thankfully we were only a few buildings away from the place) and go and get the right pizza. They made it, then threw in a bonus pizza of the kind they messed up- my favorite kind from that place "The Works". So, in the end we ordered 2 and got 4. I knew we would never be able to eat all 4 pizzas. So I called up my neighbors, to see if they wanted any, but they were on their way out to eat too. I didn't know what we were going to do with all of them. I looked out my back window, and noticed my neighbor (who we have never met or talked to) behind me was outside doing yard work. I thought, well, here's my opportunity. I walk over to my fence and ask him if he's had dinner. He hadn't. I asked him if he would like to have a pizza. He replied "how come?" I explained that they gave us too many pizzas. He agreed to take it, so I handed him the box over the fence.

My two youngest were making fun of me because I was so excited to have them agree to take it. I explained that there was no way we could eat all of them, and that we should always try to help people when we can.

Saturday, we were working in the yard, and the neighbor drove by and waved to me. It totally made my day. I turned to my kids and gave them the I told you so look. Hopefully now, we've made some new friends!

Anyway, happy be-lated Proud Mommy Monday! Hop on over to Shannon's place to participate.

You are such a GOOD neighbor! That is a lesson I need to learn, for sure! I'm not the most neighborly person in the world.. I just don't know "how" to be, I guess. I don't bake goodies to share. I'm kind of shy around people I don't know. Excuses! Excuses! Excuses! I know! ;)

Hooray! That is a great one! You set a good example for your kids, met a neighbor, shared rather than wasted, and (hopefully) made a new friend!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Sometimes, I start to think maybe I'm too laid back with my kids (and maybe in some areas I am) when I watch other friends and how protective they are. One small example is a friend who won't let her 2 year old go up and down stairs because she isn't completely competent at going down yet. While Gabrielle climbs up and down ours all day...and sometimes falls, but only cries for a minute and is fine and right back at it. I start to wonder...am I letting them do things that I shouldn't? or am I letting them have enough freedom to learn? Most of the time, I decide I am giving them enough freedom to try new things and learn.

Oh, I wish I were your neighbour! I'm afraid I'm with Shannon. I'm not a very good neighbour, lately I tend to just stick to myself.

That is a great lesson to teach not only your children, but for the rest of us as well. It could have been very easy for you to justify keeping the additional pizza's for your family to eat on a different day. You are such a kind person! I MISS BEING YOUR NEIGHBOR!!! I'm very glad of course that we are still such great friends. Sounds to me that you made some new friends for sure!
