My new "jugs"!

I thought you might like to see a picture of 'em. It's awesome that my husband wanted to buy them for me! Well... us, kind of. They're pretty big! My 3rd one is kind of small though. I think they'll look good in the kitchen. On my new cabinets! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If not, I can always use them in my bedroom.

It was purple and white and green and orange and blue!

No, I'm not talking about Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat, I'm talking about the gnarly bruise the exact same size of a roller skate wheel on my thigh! And an invisible bruise right smack in the middle of my fanny!!! Youch!

That's right, I went roller skating last night with the young women. I really can't skate. No. I'm not saying that I'm not good at it, I'm saying I really don't. know. how! Even as a kid, I was a wall-hugger. You know the type? They skate super slow and hold on to the wall for dear life! Well that was and still is me!

Hopefully no one had a camera with them last night! If they did, I will surely be on funniest home videos! All night long I was doing this: shuffle- shuff- shuff- shuff. Then yelling "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Aaaah!" Then I'd do the wall- cling again. It was fun though. And I got lots of exercise. You can imagine how my heart rate was going up and up when my arms were constantly doing the wind-mill / Saturday night fever moves. But sort-of not-on-purpose. I had to keep them moving to keep myself from face-planting!

That picture is sort of how I looked when I got the tush-bruise....only I was wearing gross public skates and my socks were way cuter!

And, I'm having a hard time coming up with a roller skating song. All I can think of is Nene's post about Ladies lovin' the feel of the wheel from that Flight of the Concords song. I'm not sure I can post that one, little ears- you know! Hmm. I'll see what I can come up with...How about a little Night Fever by the Bee Gees. Yeah. That sounds groovy!

I heart You!

We had a nice Valentine's day. Jason and I sort-of celebrated the night before. We were supposed to go out with some friends, but Jasy didn't get home till about an hour after we were going to meet everyone. Jason brought home flowers and a mystery gift. I had to know what he got me! I kept guessing and he told me if I guessed right, then I could have it that night. So- I guessed. He bought me these cool wooden-ish vases. A set of 3. They will go on top of our kitchen cabinets once they have been re-done. I got him a boring red polo. Oh well, isn't valentines day supposed to be for the ladies anyway?

We gave the girls their valentines Saturday morning. Then the rest of the day we shopped for kitchen stuff and Jason hung the crown moulding on the cabinets. It's going to look great when it's done!!
Saturday evening, I pulled out the red table cloth and fancy things up, and we had a fun valentine dinner with the girls minus Sue 'cause she was working. Dinner consisted of a Caesar salad, personal pizzas, and a choice of Code Red or Fruit Punch. After dinner, we decorated and ate sugar cookies. It was nice.

I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!

Yes, I have a new love, and his name is Ferrero Rocher!

One of my little friends brought me some candy for valentine's day. I have seen this candy in the store before and wondered who buys this kind of stuff? Well, apparently Kyla's family does because they gave some to me. But, I thought, well, what do I have to loose. I haven't met many treats I don't like. So, I opened the cute little heart box, unwrapped the little gold foil wrapper and took a look at the candy. I thought, hmm, it's covered with nuts and it has chocolate. I love the two together... and I cautiously took a bite. At first I was surprised at how light it was, then I was in heaven at the taste. MMM! Without a doubt, one of the best candies I have ever had. Ever.

I feel like a little thankful countdown is in order today. In addition to the valentine candy, I was also served a huge slice of humble pie today.

Facebook. Friend or Foe?

I think facebook is fun! It's more like a social thing than blogging is. I have heard many people say they like it because it's faster than blogging, but I'm not sure I can agree. On the one hand, yes, you can change your status and that takes only a second. Then you can comment on someone else's. And that's fairly quick. But on the other hand, you look for more people to be friends with, read people's notes, comment on their notes, do the tags you've been given, and BAM, you have just spent just as much time on facebook as you do when you blog!

Facebook has become like an illness for me lately! Sometimes, while I'm wondering around the house doing various tasks, I say to myself: Brandi is cleaning the toilet, or Brandi is making her bed. YUCK! I feel like Jeff from that Seinfeld episode. Remember, he is the one who always talks about himself in the 3rd person and Elaine thinks that some guy named Jeff wants to take her out, but it's really the nerd she keeps talking to!

I'm really trying to decide how much I want to embrace getting in touch with people I went to school with. I'm really curious what other people are doing, but I have some skeletons in my closet and I'm not sure I want to let them out EVER. So mostly the people I'm trying to get in touch with are the people that were more like good acquaintances. I figure that the people who I considered to be my "best friends" would probably still be somewhat around me if they were really my friends to begin with. You see, I lost contact with almost everyone right after I graduated because I went to Las Vegas for the summer to be a stripper. (jk- I went to stay with my dad) And after that I moved out of my house to go to college. Then, to throw a bigger kink in my high school friendships, I had a baby.

So, I don't know.

But, to clarify...I'm not giving up blogging. I love it! It's much more personal that facebook. I love reading other people's stories. I like sharing mine. And, if nothing else, it makes me feel like I'm at the very least preserving some personal history! :) I guess I'll do both. 'Cause I feel like they are completely different!

Go big GREEN!

We gave Super's teacher a valentine today. We put a 2 liter of pink soda and some pink heart cake things inside a pink bag with a little note that said "I'd be tickled pink if you'd be my valentine".

When school was over today, Super told me how her teacher got lots of chocolate and candy. Then she said "Mom, what we really should have looked into, is some salad. My teacher's on a diet!" The thought of giving her teacher some salad for valentines day was pretty funny... What would my little saying have been? I don't want to be mean, but we thought you need some green?
(the thing that really makes me laugh about this whole thing is the fact that she used the words "looked into". That's just hilarious!) and she comes home frequently and tells me what her teacher had for lunch. She tells me all the time that her teacher ate carrot sticks or some yogurt or some other veggies. I did think about that when I got the stuff, but figured, hey, it's valentines day! Everyone needs treats!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

I hope you all have a great day and some great fun at night too!

Savin' her pennies

Super has been saving her money for what feels like forever! She finally had about $45 and a birthday coming up. She decided she wanted a Nintendo DS like no tomorrow. (the neighbor girl has one and she had played with hers and thought it was pretty spiffy) The problem was, we had already decided she would get a digital camera for her birthday.
Anyway, Jason and I gave her the idea of selling her Leapster and games on ebay so that she could put the money she got toward the purchase of the DS. Her games and Leapster sold for $94. She was so excited! A few days before that she also got a $50 American Express gift card in the mail, so she was set! Now, she finally had enough money to buy her thing.
SO, Friday, we took her to our friendly neighborhood Costco, where she picked out a cute pink DS with a case, charger, the works. She also got to buy a Mario Game. Go Super!!! Way to go for saving your money!
I'll post a picture soon (she's at school right now, but guaranteed the moment she gets home it will be in her hands for the rest of the night)

Life Lessons

So Sue has had to learn some hard, but very valuable lessons lately.

1. Do not, under any circumstance, set your purse down.
(helpful hint)If you do set your purse down, make sure you don't have your camera, cell phone, curling iron, your wallet OR your friend's wallet, your parents' keys, etc inside the purse.

2. Always, always, know the speed limit.

3. Do not, under any circumstance, drive without your license on you.
4. When you get a ticket, listen to your stupid mom.
5. Go to the place listed on the actual ticket.
6. Don't listen to the workers at the government offices, they don't give a crap about you!
7. Listen to your mother.
8. In the event that you recieve a warrant, take care of it immediately.
9. When you go through the medal detectors at the court house, take off your belt, and put all papers in the box so that they can be x-rayed

10. When you show up for court, look nice.

11. Talk quietly in the courtroom, and smile.

12. Thank the good Lord that you have rad parents who can be there to support you, 'cause even though the stupid worker told us you didn't have to have your parent there with you, the judge said you do.

Amen.

A Great Day for the Zoo

We headed out for the zoo yesterday. Mostly because Super was totally bent that she didn't get to go with the preschoolers this week.

Anway, if you haven't been to the zoo in the winter, you should go! It's so much more fun! The animals actually do things (besides lay there in the shade)

There were a few really cool things that we saw:

A boa was shedding it's skin right before our eyes. All of us crowded around it's habitat watching the skin sort-of pop, then it would slide out of it. We were fascinated. I think we stood there for a good 15 minutes watching. It looked kind of like white fish-net nylons and the snake would make it's body bigger, and the skin would stretch until it broke off, then he'd keep on sliding out.

I always like watching the meerkats. They are so cute and active. They had about 4 of them in with some porcupines, and the little guys kept bugging the porcupines. The porcs would get mad and make their quills stick out, but the meerkats would come back for more. It was funny! A little while later, the porcs were trying to - how can I say this politely? make love. Nothing says fun like watching porcu-porn!

The highlight of the day was watching the Siberian Tiger. He was walking up and down all over his exhibit. Climbing up his mountain thing, going across the bridge, eating his lunch. He even paused to roar several times. It was like he was telling us "oh, that lunch was good"

The moral of the story is: try the zoo when it's cold. It's the best!!!

And, faithful readers, have you noticed things have been a little quiet lately, well, fear no more, the music is BACK! Sorry. Been spending too much time on facebook. But, I'm recommitting to my blog, after all, it's the most important thing, since it's about my family, and not just me!

Without further udo, here's todays music:

Lion Sleeps Tonight: The Tokens
Blackbird: Sarah McLachlan (for the record, it's my fave "Sarah" song)
